Logs & Craftsmanship

We only use the highest quality logs from sustainable sources in North America. Normally we can offer wood from four species of tree:

Eastern White pine, Southern Yellow pine, Poplar and Cypress.

The logs can be prepared in different sizes and profiles—such as “D” shaped, Round, Square, Shiplap or “German Chintz”. Some of the variations are shown below:

Southern Yellow Pine

This has more grain & knots with the same stable qualities as all of our engineered products.

Eastern White Pine

Beauty & durability engineered to give you one of the most stable and attractive finishes.

Shown Here in 8x12 German Chink.

Poplar

A very attractive wood & when dried and laminated it produces a superior log home and heavy timber product.

Shown Here as a 3x9 Poplar beam.

We use a very special process to ensure our logs do not crack, shrink, warp or have settling problems. Any solid piece of wood, greater than 10cm x 10cm will most likely eventually crack as a result of moisture loss. In our kiln-drying and lamination process we reduce the moisture level to between 10% & 12% and laminate 5cm planed boards to eliminate these problems.

The resulting cant can then be passed through a log profiler in the same way as “traditional” logs. The only difference being that none of the “traditional” problems will be present in our logs, and the ongoing maintenance will be absolutely minimal.

Pre-cut Kits
All our log homes are pre-cut at the factory. Milling of the logs is computer
controlled, based on the CAD (Computer Aided Design) system used in the design of the house. We pre-cut logs, roof systems, floor systems and stairways. Then each section of the home is pre-assembled to ensure absolute accuracy and a perfect fit.

We use and “end spline” system where windows and doors meet the log walls, to ensure airtight & watertight seals at each joint.

Interlocking Corner System
Our Interlocking Saddle Notch corner system ensures the log corners seal tight and remain trouble free for the life of the log home. At Log Homes Europe we’re proud of the quality of our products and the craftsmanship and years of experience that goes into them. With our expertise you really can achieve your dreams!
